Dr. Kurt Jetta
Founder and President
Dr. Kurt Jetta founded TABS Group in 1998 to provide quality service to clients in the Consumer products industry through innovative analytical methods. Since its inception, the company has grown revenue by 20% per year, as an increasing number of companies embrace the analytical innovations invented by Dr. Jetta. Some of his more noteworthy contributions to the industry are his development of new performance measures like Sales Productivity, Organic Growth, Innovation Indices and Buyer Conversion Efficiency. He is the inventor of TABS Group software and analytical tools: QuickTABS, TABS AisleMaster and TABS PanelMaster™. His most significant analytical innovation is Total Store Analytics (TSA). It is the first service in the industry to integrate all chain-wide POS data across the store to give instantaneous access to performance metrics. Additionally, it incorporates multiple data sources – loyalty card, consumer panel, POS, consumer research – into one service offering to optimize retail space allocation and aisle location decisions. Dr. Jetta recently developed the most accurate baseline model in the industry with TABS AccuBase™, which was published in the May 2011 edition of Journal of Centrum Cathedra.
Dr. Jetta has become one of the most recognizable and frequently quoted names in the Consumer Goods industry. He is a frequent author of articles for industry journals such as Chain Drug Review, Progressive Grocer, Mass Market Retailer and Drug Store News. In addition, he has provided commentary and been quoted for industry news on MSNBC, The Today Show, CNBC and Forbes. He is the author of the Annual Organic Consumer Tracking Survey as well as the Annual Vitamin Survey. Using the data from that survey and combining it with industry sources and TABS Group modeling capabilities, Dr. Jetta challenged the prevailing industry estimates which pegged the size of the Vitamin market at over $27B. Dr. Jetta’s estimate was less than half that ($12B), and it is now the accepted industry size estimate at many of the major retailers in the country.
Prior to starting TABS Group, Kurt was Chief Executive Officer of Binky-Griptight, Inc., a supplier of baby feeding products and pacifiers. In that capacity, Dr. Jetta was able to grow revenue by 75% within 18 months and narrow operating loss by 50%. Based on the growth generated in the Binky brand, the company was sold to his former employer Playtex Products. At Playtex, Kurt worked in both Sales and Marketing positions with his last job as Director, Trade Marketing for all brands. Dr. Jetta recently completed his Ph. D. in Economics from Fordham University. He specialized in Consumer Demand Theory, and the Title of his Doctoral Thesis is, “A Theory of Retailer Price Promotion Using Microeconomic Foundations: It’s All Incremental.” Click here to read the dissertation abstract. This new theory and his discovery of Riskless Profits (the Arbitrage Opportunity Condition) are poised to revolutionize marketing theory and applications in both the academic and business world. He has an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (’86) and a B.S. in Statistics from North Carolina State University (’83).
